Ignition cables - new or used in quite good condition. Oem rotor and cap - good choice.

In my case, clearing and adjustment IACV valve changed the culture of working of engine :]

janusz, the cables are bougicord 6819 = OEM.

Now I only have to find time to tear apart the GT. The engine and gearbox are in good condition. I'm planning to overhaul the engine. New piston rings, rod- and main bearings, timing chain kit and water pump. I also should start to weld the Lada's floor panel...

If you are going to swap your de to a ve legally in Finland, you have to pass a test called VTT. This test costs about 1400&#8364; and you have to pay whether you pass it or not. It's all about emissions and the actual test is done on dyno rolls and it's pretty similiar to the one done in the US. Since the VE was never officially imported to EU, it doesn't have the CE approval, which makes the whole thing allmost impossible. Yep, welcome to Finland. If I remember correctly, the power output is also measured.

The illegal option be to just swap the engine and hope for the best. Unfortunately some of the inspection engineers do recognise the VE- engine. Even if you would succeed in fooling the engineer, you would certainly get in trouble if you got into an accident with your car. The insurance company does not pay anything when they find out that you have an engine that isn't supposed to be there.

janusz, Every day I wish I lived somewhere else. Everything is made too expensive and difficult and the government want's everybody to drive either hybrids or electric cars. Fuck them I say.

Lately I've done some modification, repairs and updates. Nothing major, since I'm out of money, again.

I was lucky enough to get some OEM option parts with the GT.

I also got tired of searching for a Si- style rear seat backrest. I decided to install the GT- rear seat instead. Not in perfect condition, but I've seen worse. Now I've got a GT rear seat- Si door panels and front seats. I wish I could find some decent GT- front seats with airbags for cheap. All that's available here are either broken or cost about 150&#8364; a piece.

My consult cable had a RS232-USB adapter. It worked out quite well in the beginning, but later it developed some serious connection issues. The connection would go on and off whenever it liked. Usually when I was busy adjusting the base idle etc. I bought a chinese Consult USB adapter to solve the problem.

The connector has an extremely tight fit. It is completely powered by the USB cable. The red led indicates when the adapter gets power and the remaining two green ones indicate data transfer. I recommend purchasing a longer cable, since the one that came with it is way too short.

My Lambda- sensor had gotten extremely lazy and I had noticed some jerking when accelerating lightly at a certain rpm range. Since at that point the engine is running at closed loop, I decided to try out the original sensor that came with the GT. I felt like I got a new car.

While disassembling the GT I had an accident where my right thumb got dislocated. Now I have been using a cast fot 1,5 weeks and still have to wear it for another 6 weeks.

If you want to know, what temperature is in Poland now, you read the temperature from yours meter and shift the comma by one position to left. Yes we've got winter.....

Today I replaced the engine oil. To cut the costs, I didn't do any flushing this time. I drove 10100km's with the Nissan 5W-40 and I have absolutely nothing bad to say about it. Seems to clean up the engine well.



I filled up with the same oil and bought a Mann W67/1. I have a OEM filter, but I'm saving it for later. This is the first time that I saw the new can.

I also bought a handy tool for filter removal and installation.

It fits perfectly. The only problem is, that It did not fit the Mann perfectly, since it has a diameter of 66mm instead of the OEM's 65mm.

Now I'm left with a situation, that the car has to go to a professional service next week. I'm still wearing the cast on my right thumb and it hurts like hell if it is bended even just a little bit. I noticed a hole in the LH- side inner cv- boot, so at least that is going to get replaced.

I also want to buy key to filters - could you write info the number of this key, and how many angles has this key?
I resigned for the MANN filters when i saw, that the spring jumped out of the one of four hook. For this moment i use only OEM filters, and what is more the OEM filters have a larger filtering surface.

In Poland the price of the can of the OEM oil is still unacceptable...... 500zł per 5L........

janusz, the key is made by Bahco. It fits both 65 and 67mm filters. It has 14 angles. The W67/1 is 66mm and does not fit properly.

This is the manufacturer's part number.

Are you joking or are they pouring liquid gold to those cans? 120&#8364; for 5 litres? :shock:

I think I'll send you a can some day, here it costs only 34,90&#8364;/5l.

I really hope that I'm having better luck with my filter. The anti drain valve works like a dream when compared to the aftermarket filters. While removing the OEM filter today, I noticed that It didn't drain like the aftermarket filters do.

Yes, nearly 500zł per 5L :]

Now i'm using Fuchs Supersyn 5w40 - i must admit - very good oil. 120zł per 5L.
I changed oil in the beginig of December. So, i have an oil change for........ Eeeeeee, in January i made more than 4600km, sh*t, the oil change interval will be soon.......

The cost of shipping from Finland to Poland, will be higher than cost of the oil :]

This week has been dedicated almost completely to the Primera. I took it to a Nissan service, since I cannot do much myself at the moment.

The following things were done:
-Headlight aiming.
-Replacement of both LH- side CV boots.
-Welding both of my patches from underneath also.
-Exhaust emission testing.

The old (possibly original?) inner cv boot was punctured. Both of them were replaced, since the outer one had some wear too.

The third link was opened to allow the driveshaft to be removed easily.

New boots getting installed. The original shaft balance rubber was removed. There was some corrosion, but nothing too bad underneath it.

Things are alot easier when you have access to a lift.

The whole thing was completed today as I got the inspection done. Absolutely nothing to complain about.

Am I happy? Yes and no. Yes because it's no done and I can focus on other things and projects. No because doing stuff like this is always expensive at a service station. When the bill finally get's here by mail I'll be having some problems... But life gives and you have to take it.

I finally got the HC-06 transceiver for my project. I followed the instructions given at http://home.exetel.com.au/nds/NDSIA/ind ... edadaptors

The end result is a fully functional Bluetooth Consult adapter. Now I can use it with my phone without having to carry always my laptop with a bad battery.

The adapter fits nicely under the fuse panel hatch.

Hmmm i know this behaviour, why? Because i've got the same :] I still buy many parts, but i still don't know why.

Emblem "Primera" - i started to search this part for you, but i see that i don't have to do it. And i've got a stencil how to good stick the emblem.

Puchacz, The front logo is sized as 85mm x 59mm.

I noticed that I have the bonnet emblem installed on the trunk lid also. It is supposed to be smaller, 73mm x 52mm.

This is the result of several years of investigation. All of the following are facts acquired from Nissan service manuals, part catalogs and so on.

As people have always been debating about the differences between De, DEL, DE and DEH, here are the facts.

ATTENTION, THIS IS ONLY ABOUT EUDM PRIMERA P11 ENGINES!

Lets begin with the DE and DEH. The base engines are the same, camshafts, pistons etc. are identical with same part numbers. In october 1997 Nissan started using the FAST part catalog. This new program did not support small letters, so De had to be changed to DEL to separate it from the 150hp DE which became the DEH

DE:
* Made before 10/97
* Sidefeed injectors
* Distributor has 2 plugs
* ECU 3J501


DEH:
* Made between 10/97 &#8212; 06/99
* Bosch top feed injectors
* Distributor has only one plug
* ECU 3J504 and later 3J800 or 3J801

Overall differences.

This is alot more complicated, because of the two different variations in power output. Some countries, including Finland, never had the 115hp De or DEL as an option. People often confuse them with the single point injection Di, but it has nothing similiar to it.

So basicly, the engines are the same with only minor upgrades. The name changes came only because of the new computer program.

Yesterday was my birthday and my fellow colleaques at work had prepared a gift for me. One welder sandblasted my original upper control arms and the painters gave it a nice new powdercoat. Now they're ready to accept strongflex bushings.

I've always wanted to have a P11 GT as a sedan. Unfortunately it was never in the sales program of Nissan in Finland. Importing it from abroad has it's own risks and it might be a bit too expensive. The only remaining option is to make one yourself!

Today I took one step closer to my dream. I finally got the front seats. My shopping list consisted of the following items:

-GT front seats
-GT rear seat
-GT door cards
-GT valve cover (the one on my project engine is badly oxidated)
-Throttle body (got it cheap)
-Distributor (for rebuild)
-Intake piping, air filter cover and MAF (cheap also)
-IACV
-Original GT front mudflaps

All this ended up costing me 130&#8364;.

This is taken this morning while I stopped for some coffee on my way to buy the parts. The temperature was a few degrees below zero, so my car remained clean.
